Laboratory Technician

**Location: Sunderland**
**Salary: £21,613 rising to £23,901 after 2 years’ service (plus shift allowance between 12%-30%) + Company Benefits**
**Contract Type: Fixed-term**
As a Laboratory Technician you will work within the Quality Assurance Department alongside a team of technicians, reporting to a QA Laboratory Engineer. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with the wider Quality Assurance, Engineering, Productionand Maintenance teams.
**Outline and Main Responsibilities**:
- Perform materials and chemical testing following standard operations and inspection instructions.
- Investigation, report creating and, if required, presenting findings to the Laboratory Engineer.
- Tear down and analysis of product as part of investigations or end of life reporting.
- Conducting ad-hoc analysis as required.
- Working with a range of test and analysis equipment e.g. x-ray, SEM, HPLC, ICP, XRF, Microscopes etc.
- Manage laboratory stock levels for consumables and chemicals.
- Data analysis and reporting of technical data and test results.
- Maintain standards relating to safety, quality and environmental.
- Supporting departmental and organizational objectives.
**Experience and Qualifications**:
- Experience in a laboratory environment advantageous but not essential. (training will be provided)
- Degree in a scientific field advantageous but not essential.
- Analytical mind and good attention to detail.
- Be quality focused with a drive to ensure standards are upheld.
- Strong computer skills.
