**STEM Co-ordinator**

The post holder will be based at the company offices in Leicester city but should be willing to travel extensively to schools and other sites across the Hub area, including Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes.

The postholder may be required to attend, from time to time, training courses, conferences, seminars or other meetings as required by his/her own training needs and the needs of the company.

**Role Requirements**
- Qualified to degree level (or alternatively work experience relevant to the post).
- Experience and enthusiasm for working with young people aged 5-19 years.
- Interest and enthusiasm for STEM.
- Some knowledge of the school STEM curriculum and education sector issues and the national STEM agenda.
- Understanding of working with volunteers and business professionals.
- Experience of working with teachers and schools.
- Experience of managing or co-ordinating volunteers.
- Ability to work to targets and work effectively and accurately under pressure.
- Effective organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience of using a database.

**Role Responsibilities**
- Advising and working with teachers and out of school group organisers to encourage requests for support from Ambassadors, finding and matching suitable volunteers, helping to develop suitable activities when necessary and facilitating a self-managing relationshipbetween Ambassador and teacher/organiser.
- Organising and facilitating teacher and Ambassador network meetings or events and encouraging Ambassador support for CPD activities.
- Supporting existing relationships with volunteer STEM Ambassadors and STEM organisations and businesses within the area and helping them to extend the type and number of activities that they support and extend their engagement to new schools, colleges andout of school groups.
- Recruiting new companies and Ambassadors to extend the range of occupations represented by the scheme locally and ensuring that the volunteer population is diverse in terms of background, gender and ethnicity.
- Supporting and developing individual STEM Ambassadors, including induction and other training, carrying out DBS checks and helping them to develop their confidence and skills to enable them to engage effectively with young people.
- Collecting evaluation data on Ambassador activities as required by STEM Learning to evidence the positive impacts of their support on young people including writing case studies of successful interventions.
- Working closely with other local and regional STEM Partners including the Science Learning Partnerships, Local Enterprise Companies, Careers and Enterprise Company, Maths and Computing hubs to grow STEM Ambassadors involvement in STEM inspiration activitiesbeyond the school/college environment.
- Working with other local and national STEM enrichment providers such as the British Science Association, Museums, and professional institutions to provide a wide range of opportunities for Ambassadors to engage in as well as promoting their schemes andopportunities to schools and teachers.
- Recording all data on the STEM Learning Digital Platform.
- Carrying out other duties and reporting progress as required.
- Any other reasonable requests in accordance with the position both within the team and/or supporting other projects where required.
