**Job Purpose and context**:
REMA is a long established local charity focused on supporting BAME (Black and Minority Ethnic Communities) in Rotherham. Its purpose is to reduce inequalities and support minority communities to thrive in the UK.
The role will be embedded in our advice team and based at the Unity Centre. You will be working with an ever more diverse range of people from across the globe who desperately need access to free immigration support.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth consultations with clients to assess their immigration needs and eligibility.
Act for the client where necessary by calculating, negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning.
Assist clients with other related problems where they are an integral
part of their case and refer to other advisers or specialist agencies as appropriate
Stay abreast of changes in immigration laws and policies, and provide timely updates to clients and colleagues.
Ensure that all casework conforms to REMA policies and the requirements of the relevant statutory bodies (OISC).
Liaise with government agencies, partnership bodies, and other relevant authorities on behalf of clients and the organisation.
Maintain detailed and organised client records for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring and report preparation, and ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
Collaborate with colleagues to address complex immigration cases and share knowledge within the team.
Undertake the necessary training and work experience to achieve OISC Level 1 within 6 months (if currently unqualified) with the view to complete OISC level 2 in the next year.
Stay informed about global immigration trends and contribute to the development of best practices within the firm.
Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all interactions with clients and stakeholders.

**Person Specification**
**Job Title: Immigration Adviser (OISC)**
**Essential**
Willingness and proven ability to train and reach OISC level 1 within a reasonable, period.to perform casework
One year’s experience of giving advice or 1 year’s experience of helping or assisting customers in a customer service role
Ordered approach to casework and an ability and willingness to follow and develop agreed procedures.
Ability to prioritise own work, meet deadlines and manage caseload.
Ability to use IT in the provision of advice and the preparation of reports and submissions.
Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.
Ability to monitor and maintain own standards.
**Desirable**
Experience of working with and supporting BME communities (including voluntary work)
Ability to influence and negotiate with individuals/groups internally and externally to the organisation
Ability to write and present reports to a wide range of groups.
Ability to work flexibly and enthusiastically within a team or on own initiative.
