**Care is Central are seeking an experienced and diligent Health & Safety Coordinator on a full time, permanent basis to support our care services across Central Bedfordshire.**

This role will work across our organisation which is currently made up of domiciliary/home care services, large residential care homes and other registered care services.

**Day to Day Duties and Responsibilities**
- To lead on all health and safety compliance matters across the organisation to ensure the company remains compliant with relevant legislation and guidance.
- Play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Health, Safety and Environmental strategies in accordance with Care is Central’s internal procedures
- Ensure all standards meet legislation and advise on and share best practice
- Drive a positive and proactive safety culture throughout all levels of the team to promote operational excellence in safety behaviours and processes
- Undertake robust and effective risk assessments across a range of areas of service management and delivery to ensure effective risk mitigation measures are identified and implemented across the organisation.
- Lead on internal and external audit processes in regards to health and safety matters
- Co-ordination of all site Health, Safety and Environmental activities including meetings, training and communications to ensure sites remain compliant
- Develop appropriate HSE knowledge and expertise within the team
- Lead accident investigation and reporting ensuring accurate root causes are identified with adequate corrective actions implemented to prevent reoccurrence
- Ensure that all hazards, near misses, accidents and incidents are recorded correctly and where necessary, escalated within a timely manner using the company safety database system
- Ensure that all contractors working on sites are “approved”, have been vetted and have submitted the correct up to date documentation
- Be pro-active in decision making based on analysis, experience, judgement and intuition but recognise when to escalate
- Create a culture of continuous improvement in all aspects regarding health and safety across the organisation and proactively review health and safety KPI’s to identify areas of improvement.

**Previous Experience, Qualifications & Attributes**
- You will currently hold a NEBOSH qualification
- You will have demonstrable experience in health and safety management in an operational capacity.
- You will have a positive and can-do attitude with a strong capability of motivating and leading teams in health and safety compliance.
- You will have exceptional attention to detail, excellent written skills and be an effective communicator across a range of media and formats.
- You will be resilient and be able to work well under pressure, being able to work to set deadlines and having excellent organisational skills.
- You will be a proactive member of the team responsible for generating, organising and managing significant amounts of your own workload.
- You Must be able to demonstrate a keen interest in continually improving our Health, Safety and Environment performance

Applicants must hold a current valid UK driving license with access to a vehicle which is covered for business use, and be willing to travel across Central Bedfordshire.
