For over 50 years Spanwall has been investing in its people, its systems, and its products.You’ll find their architectural wall cladding on iconic buildings around the world, from Belfast to Barbados, Dublin to Amsterdam and from South Africa to Saudi Arabia, specified by architects and designers working on behalf of names you’ll know, including Google, Apple, Microsoft, Guinness, British Airways and Audi.

Today, they have a world-leading reputation for manufacturing sheet metal in complex shapes and configurations to create architecturally striking facades.

We are seeking a new **Head of Design** to join our team manufacturing high quality Bespoke Architectural Metal Fabrications.

As our **Head of Design**, you'll play a pivotal role in driving the evolution of our rainscreen cladding product lines. From R&D to commercialisation, you'll lead cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions that exceed industry standards.

- Working hours 9am-5pm Mon-Thurs, 9am-1pm Fri

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead cross-functional product development for innovative rainscreen cladding solutions.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and manufacturing teams to translate concepts into viable products.
- Manage the product development lifecycle, from ideation to commercialization.
- Oversee certification and testing processes for rainscreen cladding systems.
- Drive continuous improvement through performance analysis and customer feedback.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with external engineers and consultants, building key partnerships.
- Work with sales and marketing teams to create compelling product messaging.
- Manage budgets and timelines for product development projects.
- Undertake chief design work on bespoke projects, including CAD details.
- Liaise with customers, architects, and clients for major design projects.
- Provide technical information and drawings to support the sales team.
- Delegate design workload to appropriate members of the design office team.
- Manage CAD software purchasing and maintenance within the design office.
- Pursue relevant training courses related to CAD software.
- Uphold Spanwall Facades core values in discharging duties.
- Any other duties as reasonably requested.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Product Design, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in product development within the building materials or construction industry (minimum 5 years).
- Strong leadership skills, inspiring and motivating cross-functional teams.
- Excellent project management abilities, including budgeting and timeline management.
- In-depth knowledge of rainscreen cladding systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with industry regulations, standards, and certification processes.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
