Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer, the laboratory technician will assist in a range of areas and will provide technical support to colleagues.

Under the instruction of the Chief Scientific Officer and senior members of the research team, the Laboratory Technician will aid in the smooth running of the laboratory and office, and assist in sample receipt, processing and analysis.

This role may be suitable for full
- or part-time applicants.

**The Laboratory Technician’s main responsibilities are**:

- To undertake sample preparation and analysis using defined laboratory protocols.
- To keep an organised record of all samples that require analysis and to deliver results in a timely manner, based on importance of each sample, as agreed by the senior team.
- To perform all work with a high level of precision and accuracy at all times, and maintain accurate and concise written records of all analyses and procedures.
- To adhere to deadlines, and complete work in a timely and professional manner.
- To provide support to colleagues including, but not limited to media and solution preparation.
- To maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
- To assist in the general maintenance and cleanliness of the laboratories and office areas.
- To comply with the company Health and Safety policies, and contribute to risk assessments and standard operating procedures.
- To actively participate in laboratory meetings.
- To contribute to office administration and liaising with contractors, as required.

**The Laboratory Technician’s main requirements are**:

- Willingness to work, learn and develop in the role.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Flexible approach to working.
- To follow the procedures outlined in the company’s Laboratory Safety Guide and to adhere to chemical Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and CoSHH.
- To be an effective team player and maintain a professional manner with colleagues and customers at all times.
- To adhere to the policies and procedures with the Member’s Handbook, as updated from time to time.
- Please note that this role will involve exposure to high magnetic fields and is therefore unsuitable for people with pacemakers or ferromagnetic implants._
