**The Team**
The Financial Markets and Products Group at Fieldfisher comprises the following sub-teams:
- Banking & Asset Finance
- Derivatives and Structured Finance
- Financial Services Regulatory
- Funds
The team is based principally in London but, following the move to new offices in Spinningfields, the team is looking to expand in Manchester to take advantage of local talent. Part of this plan includes the need for an intermediate to senior level PSL based in Manchester to support the growing Manchester and London derivatives and structured finance and financial services regulatory teams. The Manchester team is supported and supervised by a local director-level fee earner who is part of the broader Financial Markets & Products Group and has a depth of experience in derivatives and the relevant financial regulatory framework. Whilst we already have PSL support covering precedent development and management, we wish to further develop our thought leadership and client-facing know-how activities as part of a business development focus.
The derivatives team at Fieldfisher has been a market-leading practice for over 25 years. It is highly ranked in all the leading directories (Tier 2 in Legal 500, Band 2 in Chambers, Tier 2 in IFLR, etc.) and has been described as providing 'faster, more tailored advice than many competitors' and as 'sensible, approachable and commercial'. It services an impressive client base that includes global and second tier investment banks, commercial banks, brokers, asset managers, hedge funds and wholesale markets service providers. The team directly competes with Magic Circle firms and the London offices of 'white-shoe' and other major US law firms, such as White & Case, Latham & Watkins and Reed Smith.
The derivatives team advises on derivatives and securities financing transactions and documentation, including drafting bespoke netting and collateral agreements, negotiating master agreements (such as ISDA Master Agreements, GMRAs and GMSLAs), drafting both structured and vanilla transaction documentation, providing guidance on new regulations, legal opinions and advising on closing out and unwinding transactions.
The derivatives team works closely with the structured finance team (comprising a further 6 partners) with whom resources are shared. Whilst this role is primarily to support the derivatives team, an interest in structured finance as well as other types of financial transactions would be helpful.
The financial services regulatory team advises on financial markets and trading regulation, particularly commodities and complex financial products.

**Key Skills & Experience**
The PSLs that we are looking for must:
- be familiar with and have an interest in wholesale financial markets
- be client/industry focussed
- be motivated to produce creative and "user friendly" client/markets material
- drive forward client/market-facing training and papers
- attend and network at client/industry seminars and conferences
- assume responsibility for existing publications and develop them
- ideally have practised recently and be aware of market intelligence and developments
- have excellent technical ability and attention to detail, coupled with initiative, communication and organisation skills
- have practised in some (but not necessarily all) of the areas listed above and be motivated to understand those markets
- have excellent drafting skills
- have project management skills, and ability to influence others to achieve goals
- have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate confidently at all levels to those inside and outside the firm
