The role is to provide Security to a Campus based in Liverpool. Driving is required for the role
The post holder will:
- Provide proactive customer services support to all customers. Providing assistance for general enquiries, security and safety issues. Enhancing the student experience through the proactive resolution of issues, either directly or by directing to other Universityservices.
- Provide a response service to security incidents and emergencies across all campus areas. Supporting partner organisations for incidents affecting students, staff and visitors.
- Ensure Security protocols and Health and Safety Codes of Practice are followed at all times in the execution of the role. These include incident management, out of hours working, evacuation and lockdown.
- Provide immediate investigation in the event of fire alarms activation and liaise with the building evacuation teams and Emergency Services, when necessary.
- Engage with intruders/unauthorised persons and disorders, where necessary detaining and questioning offenders or escorting them from University premises.
- Provide immediate emotional support to victims of crime.
- Monitor access to buildings and the University ID Card Policy.
- Operation of the Security Control and Communication Centre. Monitoring CCTV, alarm and access control systems, and the operation of communication technologies. Including the out of hours operation of the switchboard.
- Complete security reports and maintain security support systems.
- Uphold the University's fulfilment of its Prevent Duty, reporting issues of concern to the Team Leader and Supervisor.
- Act as a designated first aider and evacuation chair operator
- Provide Mental Health First Aid to students, staff and visitors as required.
- Occasions where there may be a requirement to provide an out of hours janitorial service to toilets, circulation and social spaces, entrance areas and external spaces in accordance with service standards and key performance indicators.
- Undertake regular monitoring of internal communal areas, ensuring areas are well maintained, presentable and free from litter and debris. To pick up any litter and debris and deposit in bins, disposal of sharps, resolve spillages and undertake any additionalor emergency cleaning required.
- Undertake building security patrols. Carry out searches of premises/vehicles/staff or students as dictated by operational circumstances.
- Enforce compliance with the University Car Parking Policy. Including the monitoring of car parks and the issue of penalty charge notices, as appropriate.
- Report defects, hazards and other Health and Safety issues to the Helpdesk to ensure timely repairs can be undertaken and that issues are resolved.
- Operate the Estate and Facilities Management Helpdesk out of hours, progressing the resolution of maintenance issues. Liaising with contractors, as required.
- Provide general assistance to contractors, when undertaking scheduled maintenance and refurbishment works.
- Ensure the campus is opened and closed at agreed times, including locking and unlocking premises, setting and un-setting alarms. Taking responsibility for building keys.
- Carry out special duties in connection with Graduation, open days, University events and covert operations.
- The driving and maintenance of the Security vehicles, in accordance with the University Driving at Work Policy. Providing cover for the Executive Drivers as required.
