The Role:
Hiscox has established a reputation for underwriting property and casualty business, in addition to other core products like professional indemnity. With the market growing exponentially, we aim to leverage this opportunity by adding a Tech Focused Specialty Combined Senior Underwriter to our North Regional team. This role involves contributing to the profitable growth of our regional business with a focus on underwriting larger and more complex cases.

What You’ll Be Doing:

- Being recognised as an experienced and specialist underwriter across the region by our brokers.
- Delivering first-class broker service experiences on every case
- Underwriting larger, more complex cases consistently and profitably.
- Working effectively within a structured regional team with a strong branch trading focus.
- Being self-driven, able to deliver high-quality work, and manage a case load independently.
- Leading and setting the execution of the local underwriting strategy for your specialist area in conjunction with the Regional Manager and Regional Underwriting Manager.
- Influencing UK Product Heads on underwriting appetite and strategy.
- Demonstrating ownership around the target retention rate for your caseload and the region, supporting others where necessary.
- Keeping abreast of the competitive landscape, from market moves to new product launches across our chosen sectors.

Our Must-Haves:

- An excellent understanding of Hiscox products, and the ability to underwrite larger, more complex risks.
- Excellent knowledge of the insurance market, industry competitors, brokers, and factors that affect the market
- Ideally ACII qualified or exempt through relevant experience as defined by the FCA.
- Excellent trading and people skills.
