Our client is a subcontract manufacturer of nutritional products based in Runcorn. The Company has an annual turnover of circa £80m, generating strong profits and returns on capital and employs circa 380 people. It has an excellent track record of growth and ambitious plans for future expansion.

The company has been around for over 200 years and has built a reputation as a market leader in the manufacture of nutritional products supporting the growth of premium nutritional brands and direct selling organisations in the European marketplace.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Director/Deputy Managing Director, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the Finance function. Responsibilities will include:
The financial management of the Company; ensuring the finance function meets both its reporting and operational objectives.

Ensuring that the business complies with the requirements of operating as part of a PLC including ownership of the group reporting

Preparation of the monthly management accounts, including reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, group reporting and the preparation of the board report.

Management of sales ledger, purchase ledger and payroll functions.

Preparation of financial data for budgeting, forecasting and strategy purposes.

Responsible for company tax compliance.

Supervision of internal and external audits.

Preparation of statutory accounts and year end group reporting.

Proactively contributing to other departments in terms of the general day to day management of the business.

As well as a sound financial management background, which should include effective financial reporting and a strong emphasis on cost control and profit maximisation, the incoming Financial Controller must have had business to business manufacturing experience.

The Financial Controller needs to be a highly motivated self-starter with plenty of energy, who takes the initiative and anticipates proactively the demands of the business.
