StokeonTrent, United Kingdom Evergreen Foster Care Full time

Evergreen Foster Care is a highly specialised service that focuses on placing children from residential schools or children’s home into intensively supported, foster care placements. The aim of Evergreen Foster Care is to provide placements for children who would not be able to access standard foster care, but could, if adequately supported, make the transition to a family environment.

As children leaving residential care may often have a range of difficulties, just one child can be placed with a fostering family. This ensures that progress is not further complicated by the competing needs of equally complex or challenging children, and that the placement maintains stability for the child.

We understand how difficult it is to foster children who have social, emotional and/or mental health difficulties, and who may have aspects of autistic spectrum condition. Our foster carers receive a generous package which includes regular direct support from a therapist.

Due to recent growth, an exciting opportunity has now arisen for a full-time or part-time therapist skilled in providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Family or Systemic Therapy, to join our fostering agency. You will work directly with our foster carers, children, staff and partners, to promote positive outcomes for our fostering households and the agency. You will be working as part of a professional and motivated team committed to supporting our fostering families, promoting nurture and stability, and healthy, rewarding relationships.

Each fostering household receives 20 sessions per year, and this can be directed to the child or the foster carer. Often the focus can change depending on the individual needs of the family. Therapy sessions for the child take place in the home, and support sessions for the foster carers can take place online or also in the home. Therefore, travel and time management are key parts of the role.

Our therapists also provide fortnightly group reflection and training with our foster carers, and attend key meetings for the children. In addition, each member of the team, including the therapist, take part in a our on-call telephone support service for our fostering families.

Salary is negotiable depending on skills and experience. Part-time or full-time considered.
