**Salary**:£27,091 PA. Salaries are in accordance with IPSA pay scales.

**Hours: F**ull time (37.5 hours per week) On occasions work out of standard hours may be required by agreement

**Location**:The Parliamentary Office in Westminster although occasional trips to Tim Farron’s constituency office in Kendal might be required

**Purpose of job**

This position will manage the busy parliamentary office in Westminster, co-ordinate the MP’s parliamentary work and out-of-constituency diary, report regularly to the MP and assist the MP with his parliamentary role as needed to ensure delivery to a high standard. Part of the role will be to support Tim Farron’s work with Faith in Public, identifying and demonstrating areas where faith plays a positive role in public life and can be a positive agent for change. This role is part-funded by Faith in Public, which works with Tim Farron to encourage a better understanding of faith in the public square.

**Key responsibilities**
- Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure the Member is accurately informed on key issues
- Develop and maintain current knowledge on relevant areas of parliamentary business including Early Day Motions, legislation, debates, etc.
- Ensure the Member is fully briefed on potential questions and motions to be put to the House
- Give advice on policy issues
- Prepare and present briefing notes for speeches, committees, parliamentary questions etc
- Monitor media coverage, brief the Member on relevant issues and liaise with the Member’s Communications Officer
- Progress casework as required
- Manage the Member’s diary outside of the constituency
- Oversee project management and event organisation as appropriate
- Undertake research on the Member’s behalf
- Liaise with other MPs’ offices and external stakeholders as appropriate
- Act as key point of contact between the Member’s parliamentary office and the constituency office
- Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries on the Member’s behalf
- Provide secretarial and administrative support to the Member as appropriate
- Supervise staff members where appropriate
- Attend and participate in meetings as appropriate
- Ensure that records are kept and information managed confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act

**The successful applicant will also be expected to**:

- Undertake such training as required and recommended and provided through the management in order to develop and update required skills.
- Undertake any other such duties as the line manager may require to further effective communication, campaigning and organisation.
- Some work may be required outside of normal office hours from time to time.

The line manager for this post will be jointly the Member and the Administrative and Constituency Manager. Upon appointment, the successful applicant will be required to comply with baseline personnel security standard undertaken by the Member’s Staff Verification Office.

Interviews will be held week commencing Monday 24th April.

The start date is flexible but preferred as soon as possible.
