Bracknell, United Kingdom FindersKeepers Rec. Full time

Ref AI/FB

Are you looking for a role enriching the life of a young man with complex needs? F, our 17 year old client, who lives with his family, is very happy, sociable and amenable and loves a joke. He has a real zest for life and is a very engaging personality. F particularly loves travelling on public transport, especially trains, which he does weekly with his Support Workers who create a fun and lively environment for him to enjoy. If this sounds like you and you would like to join F’s supportive and committed team, please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.

**The Role/Client**:
***

F sustained a brain injury as a baby and has a mental age of around 6 years old in terms of cognitive thinking, reading and writing. He requires care at all times.

He has mild Cerebral Palsy and a mild learning disability. He has autism and severe epilepsy with drop and fitting seizures and you will always be with another Support Worker or Mum or Dad.

F likes to engage in a variety of social and community activities and is taking part currently in qualifications to increase his independence. He is a very active young man and participates in rock climbing, visits to the gym and swimming. Personal care, cooking and feeding are not required for this role but you might be required to prompt him with showering/dressing.

You will be a dog lover with no allergies as the family have a friendly dog.

You will receive full training in all aspects of our client’s care and be fully supported by his Case Manager and the wider team.

**About You**:
You will have a minimum of 1 year’s complex care experience and preferably some experience with challenging behaviours and autism. His team describe him as a delight and he has a great sense of fun but he can become frustrated at times. You would need to be willing to be trained in de-escalation techniques in case of challenging behaviour.

We are looking for someone with a lively and engaging personality who can work on their own initiative and in a team with good communication and listening skills.

You will organise and support his indoor and outdoor activities and need to be physically fit to support this young man and his activities. Being a swimmer is an advantage but not essential for this role. There will also be opportunities to support Finn on family holidays.

You DO NOT need to be a driver for this role and public transport is available near to the client’s home.

You will provide a supportive, engaging and client-centred approach following F’s care plan and helping him achieve his developmental and rehabilitation goals.

You will be kind, positive, flexible, reliable, and able to build a relationship of trust with our client and family.
