Police Staff Investigator Level 2

Hartlepool, United Kingdom Cleveland Police Full time

**Post**:Police Staff Investigator - Historical Investigation Unit (HIU) PIP Level 2 Accredited (or recognised equivalent)**

**Salary: SO 1 / 2 - £33,915 - £39,036 (plus Weekend Work Enhancement)**

**Hours: 37 hours per week (covering a shift pattern which includes weekend working)**

**Contract Type: Permanent**

**Location: Hartlepool / Southbank**

Do you want a new challenge or to develop yourself? Would you like to learn Holmes skills, and be involved in major investigations? Would you like to join a great team of dedicated Investigators?

Applications are invited for PIP level 2 investigator roles within Operation Pandect - Historical Investigation unit, based in Hartlepool and Operation Dean based at Southbank Police Station.

**What is Operation Pandect?**

Operation Pandect is the overarching name for the investigations being undertaken by the historical investigation unit. The unit is funded by the Home Office, and was set up with a policing special grant to investigate 3 outstanding unsolved murder investigations, and also Operation Sturgeon which investigated a significant number of serious offences disclosed during the course of enquiries.

Positions are currently available on Operation Resolute and Operation Ardent, and Operation Dean.

Operation Resolute - Donna Marie Keogh was 17 years old when she went missing from Middlesbrough in 1998. Her body has never been found.

This investigation was reopened in 2016 following a comprehensive external review, and a lot of work has been completed since that time. This is very much a live investigation, and there are still key lines of enquiry underway to locate her body and bring those responsible to justice.

Operation Ardent - Victoria Glass was 21 years old when she went missing from Middlesbrough in 2000. Her body was found in a stream in Danby, North Yorkshire six weeks later. Whilst 3 persons have previously been arrested for her murder the case remains unsolved. The case was closed in 2004.

Operation Dean

This is a complex investigation into very serious, non recent offences of sexual exploitation of young people which are believed to have taken place throughout Cleveland. The committed team who are dedicated to this investigation are engaging with the victims and providing them with the care and support they need whilst gathering evidence of what has taken place.

**Duties**

We are seeking conscientious, dedicated and inquiring individuals to ensure a professional investigative and supportive service is delivered to the community.

Duties will include interviewing witnesses and suspects using the PEACE/PACE interview methods and producing accurate written statements in a form suitable for use as evidence in court proceedings.

Flexibility will be essential due to the nature and demands of this role. You should expect on occasion to work beyond your normal scheduled working hours and also to travel around the force areas and beyond.

**Want to know more? **DCI Rachel Taylor can be contacted on 01642 302187 for an informal chat if you have any questions regarding this vacancy.

It is essential that all applicants are able to undertake and pass mandatory Personal Safety Training (PST).

The role of Police Staff Investigator requires that you have your fingerprints and DNA taken and these will be stored on the contamination elimination database. This requirement is written into your contract.

Applicants who have applied to this role in the last 6 months and deemed unsuccessful need not re-apply.
- Regardless of the applicant, this role is on current Cleveland Police Terms and Conditions as per Police Staff Council._
