This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join Bristol City Council as a Highways Officer and be part of a flexible and committed team delivering high quality service standards for the city's highways.
The Highways Maintenance Group within the Transport Service is at the very forefront of the efforts being made by the City Council and other stakeholders to improve maintain and develop the transport service in our City, for the benefit of its citizens, businesses and visitors. Key to this is the effective maintenance and improvements/refurbishment to all the highway and authority owned estates within the public domain.
**What will I be doing?**
As a Highways Officer you will take a lead role in ensuring the safety of all those who use highway by investigating and identifying defects and undertaking works to repair the highway, through the delivering of small work packages.
As a Highway Officer you be required to investigate claims issued against the authority and, on occasion, and with support, represent the authority in court.
You will be in a public facing role, investigating and responding to complaints and enquires. The role will also work with businesses and organisations through the issuing of a variety of licences that are associated with the Highway.
**What do I need to have?**
The role would suit a person who has experience of Highway Maintenance works and an understanding of the legislation that governs it. You should be someone who thrives on responsibility, continuous performance improvement and customer focus.
You should be willing to work outdoors and be able to meet the physical demands of the job, have a strong customer focus.
A full driving license.
The post will be based at 100 Temple Street but will involve significant site and outdoor work. Flexible working arrangements apply, allowing working from home when required.
