Stirling, United Kingdom M&G plc Full time

At M&G our purpose is to help people manage and grow their savings and investments, responsibly. As a business, we are continuing to take steps towards a sustainable future, delivering better long-term solutions for our customers and clients and identifying new opportunities to make a positive impact for our environment and communities. To help us achieve our vision we’re looking for exceptional people who live our values of care and integrity and who can inspire others; embrace change; deliver results and keep it simple.

We will consider flexible working arrangements for any of our roles and also offer work place accommodations to ensure you have what you need to effectively deliver in your role.

What does the Chief Operating Office do?

M&G is an international savings and investments business, helping around five million customer manage their money, in addition to around 800 institutional clients. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) function is responsible for delivering the right operations, IT and supplier strategy and transformation plan to enable our business to be successful. To that end, we have a team of over 2,000 people in the UK and India as well as other countries around the world, supporting the Asset Management and Retail & Savings businesses, as well as being responsible for Technology, Procurement & Supplier Management, Operational Resilience and Data policies & frameworks.

What you can expect from our Internship Programme

The programme consists of an 8 week immersive dive into the world of M&G, starting on 19 June 2023. We are focused on developing you professionally, as well as building your technical skills, through real, value-add work and learning sessions hosted by our experienced professionals.

Your induction will give you a grounding of who we are, our strategy, and customers & clients before you move into your dedicated team for the rest of your time with us. Being based in the same team for the duration of the programme will give you an in-depth of knowledge of your business area, and help you to build lasting relationships with your colleagues. Another important part of your internship is building your network, so each intern will be allocated a buddy from our graduate cohort, and will also have the opportunity to attend networking and social events during your time here.

What will you be doing?

You will be working on your own projects, getting involved in team meetings, and encouraged to present your own views and ideas during your time here. Interns at M&G Plc make valuable contributions to the teams they work in and will be involved in a variety of tasks:
- You will have the opportunity to learn about one or more of the operational functions supporting our businesses, working alongside colleagues with a diverse range of skills, experiences and backgrounds.- It is likely that you’ll be asked to support project activity, perhaps delivering an aspect of the COO Transformation programme, meeting and shadowing colleagues responsible for the design and implementation of operational aspects of M&G’s growth agenda.- A role in the Data team could mean supporting our drive to use data insights to help improve customer outcomes or improving our ways of working through identification of workflows and processes that can be automated.- In Procurement, you could be working with the team reviewing M&G’s supply chain and preferred supplier lists, simplifying processes and driving value for the business.- The Operational Resilience team are responsible for ensuring that the business is able to manage the risk of operational disruptions and to respond to, recover and learn from them if they do occur. A role within the team could involve supporting the delivery of improvement actions, addressing any vulnerabilities that might be identified within services provided.- You’ll gain experience of working in a dynamic team, and what it takes to be successful in an operational team in the financial services sector, building a better understanding of the key competencies required for a career in the industry.

We will work with you during the recruitment process to align your strengths and preferences with our teams to find you the most suitable placement. To do this, we follow a four stage process:
1. Submit your CV Application

2. Complete your Online Assessments

3. Complete a Video Interview

4. Attend one of our Assessment Centres
