**Overview**

As the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor you will work closely with the UPP Residential Regional Leadership Team providing a consistent approach to all safety, health and wellbeing matters, aligned to UPP’s values and ensuring operational teams take accountability and ownership of Safety, Health and Wellbeing performance.

You’ll support the Safety, Health and Wellbeing Business Partner (Operations) in implementing the Occupational Health and Safety Management system and our Wellbeing Programme. Together, you will to ensure the prevention of occupational injury and ill health through ensuring performance, culture, participation and compliance. You will develop innovative solutions to support site teams, translating technical health, safety and wellbeing requirements into workable solutions.

**What you will be doing**:

- Providing advice, guidance and practical solutions to ensure legal compliance and best practice in line with our management system
- Ensuring that UPPs Health, Safety and Wellbeing procedures are implemented consistently across UPP Residential Services
- Advising the Regional Leadership Team of any changes to UPP Health, Safety and Wellbeing processes
- Driving the organisations behavioural safety culture by raising awareness and leading by example, leading campaigns within UPP Residential Services to raise awareness of safety culture and ownership
- Assisting with the development of the required Health, Safety and Wellbeing documentation, as defined in the Health and Safety Management System
- Ensuring that all accidents at work are reported using the company reporting system and that responsible managers are made aware and investigate within agreed timeframes
- Delivering Health & Safety training, as defined by the national Health & Safety training matrix for colleagues within the Region
- Undertaking Internal Health, Safety and Wellbeing Audits
- Supporting the closure of non-conformance actions arising from the UPP audit programme
- Flexible working out of hours may be necessary from time to time
- National role requiring travel across the UK, including overnight stays
- Maintain appropriate level of qualification and competence commensurate with this role
**What you are already good at**:

- Writing reports, policies, procedures and safe systems of work in an engaging style
- Providing guidance/advice and addressing workplace concerns within an organisation at all levels
- Developing, delivering and evaluating health and safety training
- Accident investigation including making recommendations to prevent reoccurrence
- Health and safety inspections, audits and specific risk assessments
- Translating health and safety knowledge into actions and to use knowledge to anticipate business requirements
- Interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to persuade, influence and, when appropriate, challenge with tact and diplomacy
- Coaching skills to support, advise and coach on a wide range of health, safety and wellbeing matters
- Interpretation of relevant health and safety legislation, Approved Codes of Practice and guidance that translate into coaching and advising managers on a wide range of health and safety matters
- Analysing and understanding of data and information and presenting the findings, identifying areas of risk, opportunities & solutions
- Comprehensive knowledge of key health and safety processes and incorporating sensible risk management

- Working knowledge of developing an occupational health and safety management system
**Your Current Qualifications**:

- Industry recognised professional health and safety qualification e.g. NEBOSH National General Certificate, or equivalent
- Technical Membership of IOSH - Tech IOSH
Desirable
- ISO45001 Internal Auditor
- Hold an industry recognised professional health and safety qualification e.g. NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent
- Graduate Membership of IOSH - Grad IOSH

**Salary**: £39,500.00-£48,000.00 per year
