**Cherish Children’s Care has an exciting opportunity for Residential Support Workers to join our team at our home in Longton, Preston.**

The home that we are recruiting for supports 3 young people aged between 8 and 18 years. Our children and young people often come to us as either a step into residential care for the first time or a step down from homes that provide more intensive support t their children and young people. We work alongside children's social care services to support our young people in their transition to independence or to return home.

We are looking to recruit Residential Support Workers who are passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children. You will work alongside a team of staff in supporting our children and young people in their day to day life ensuring that that health and wellbeing needs are met and they feel safe and cared for whilst living with us.
- Hold a Level 3 NVQ Children or equivalent (desirable)
- Has at least 1 years experience within a children’s residential home setting with a proven track record of maintaining high standards of care.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- To be self-motivated and task orientated.
- Can demonstrate confidence in liaising with Social Workers, Police, LADO and families.
- The desire and passion to safeguard, motivate, and inspire the young people in your care.
- The characteristics and personality to handle challenging behaviour effectively and professionally.
- Shift work including weekends, evenings & sleep in duties.

**The key duties of the role are**:

- To maintain a high quality of care and support which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and cultural needs of children and young people within the care of the home.
- To provide a caring, supportive, and nurturing environment in which children/young people can feel safe and secure and free from harm. Establishing positive, warm and rewarding relationships with the children/young people..
- Be responsible for reporting regularly on each young person’s daily events at the residential home and always maintain all necessary information confidentially following the quality standards.
