**BOOKKEEPER/PAYROLL CLERK**

About us

We are a family run general practice based in Godalming Surrey. Most of our client base are small businesses and individuals, generally based in and around Surrey. We provide a range of services, including bookkeeping, payroll, management accounts, statutory accounts, together with company & personal taxation.

The business started in 2005 and we have three qualified accountants (2 full time and one part time) together with a bookkeeper and accounts assistant. We work out of our small offices in Godalming and also flexible from home.

**The Role**

We are currently seeking a confident and self-sufficient full time or part time bookkeeper/payroll clerk to fill a vacancy that has arisen and to work along side our current bookkeeper/payroll clerk. The role covers a lot of varied work to include preparing client’s own accounts using electronic systems, preparing VAT Returns, processing monthly Payrolls and producing accounts to trial balance stage from both electronic and in-complete records.

Good working knowledge of bookkeeping, VAT and payroll. Confidentiality, excellent organisational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly.

**Typical Responsibilities & Duties**
- Reconcile bank
- Maintain & reconcile sales and purchase ledgers
- Prepare VAT returns
- Process monthly Payroll
- Prepare bookkeeping records to trial balance level
- Deal with client queries
- Experience in a similar role
- To be self-motivated, with the ability to manage and organise your own time and resources, effectively ensuring deadlines are met
- Excellent client facing abilities
- Ability to use a variety of software (Kashflow, Xero, Quick Books, FreeAgent, Sage, and Iris Payroll)
- Accountancy/Bookkeeping qualification desirable but not necessary
- High degree of competency in Microsoft Excel

**Salary**

£12-£15ph (£23,400 - £29,250 pa FTE). Standard 28 days holiday per year (20 days plus national holidays) for full time staff, (part time pro-rata).

**Hours**

Full time 37.5 per week (Mon-Fri 9:00 to 5:30), or Part time 25 per week (Ideally Mon-Fri 9:30 to 2:30)

**Salary**: £23,400.00-£29,250.00 per year
