ROLE**:Principal RF Antenna Design Engineer**

LOCATION: London

DURATION: Permanent

Responsibility
- To take ownership of antenna designs from requirements definition, design development, implementation, validation, and integration into my clients phased array antenna products.
- To provide technical leadership and mentoring to the antenna team as appropriate and as agreed with the Head of Antennas.
- To work within the Antenna Design team to specify, design, simulate and implement custom Ku-Band/Ka-Band transmit and Receive RF Antenna boards that form an integral part of my clients product development roadmap.
- To perform RF EM simulations using the latest techniques in HFSS and ADS to ensure the designs meet the specifications.
- To assist with the integration and evaluation of these antenna designs into high density, multi-layer PCB Layouts and Antenna Modules.
- To collaborate closely with the ASIC, Hardware, Mechanical, Software and System teams to ensure effective support of the wider development programmes.
- Maintaining accurate documentation on design specifications, development processes, test procedures and test results and contributing to weekly status reports.
- Supporting the hardware team with the design of RF structures such as baluns, rat races, printed circuit board filters and matching networks and helping to characterise the performance of the assembled RF board assemblies.
- The role may involve occasional travel to our open area far field range to assist the System team in evaluating the antenna performance at a product level.
- Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Requirements:

- At least twelve years' experience of RF and antenna design and measurement including +8 years' experience in a relevant industrial antenna development role.
- Proven experience in antenna design and product development covering a range of microwave frequencies.
- Experience with the characteristics and design of various antenna types.
- Solid understanding of antenna theory, phased array principles, and electronically steerable arrays. Ability to capture requirements and distil them into a written specification.
- Expertise in the use of 2D/3D EM simulation tools such as HFSS, ADSCompetency to perform post-processing of data using tools such as MATLAB or Mathcad.
- Good knowledge of transmission line theory and impedance matching circuits.
