Kane Group are an established, and successful multi-disciplinary building-services solution contractor, head office based in Banbridge, Northern Ireland. We’re an innovative, forward-thinking company with continued steady growth serving residential, hospitality, education, commercial and healthcare sectors with offices in Northern Ireland, London, Glasgow and the Republic of Ireland.
We are actively seeking a Materials Buyer in this position you will play a key role in the procurement of all Mechanical and Electrical materials for the project. You will work closely with our Procurement, Operations and Accounts teams in ensuring the smooth transition of all orders from initial take-off to full Procurement and finally to final stages of invoicing.
Full in-house training will be given on our processes and IT packages, as well as additional courses relevant to the role, if the applicant so wishes.
Key Responsibilities
Obtain the best possible rates for the material to stay below the budgetary requirement and procure.
Oversee the delivery of the material to site in a clear and professional manner by ensuring all items are available when required on site
Have full commercial awareness of the project, ensure purchases are made within the budgetary targets set out and any potential overspends are quickly coordinated with the commercial team and resolved
Ensure all supplier invoices are cleared for payment on a timely manner to maintain the high-level of positive supplier relations expected by the company
Perform daily, weekly and monthly checks to ensure all paperwork is up to date, so efficiency remains at the expected high level
Build, manage & maintain relationships with clients, contractors, other construction professionals, suppliers and site staff.
Report to Senior Buyer on a daily basis.
Ensure a safe working environment abiding by all necessary health and safety requirements and legislation
Uphold the professional and progressive image of the company at all times
Monitor supply chain activity, order placement & rates
Any other duties required to fulfil the requirements of the position
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
**Qualifications**:
Essential
2nd Level education with strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills Desirable
3rd level Education with strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills
Interest in pursuing construction or business qualification
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
1+ years’ experience in a similar role preferably in a construction environment
Extensive and demonstrable experience of the material orders
Strong experience and excellent working knowledge of M&E material and components required
Knowledge of M&E material rates
Abilities & Skills
Proven record of delivering on-time quality work with mínimal supervision
Organized and structured approach to your work
Enthusiastic adopter/user of IT systems, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel
Excellent negotiating skills
Analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills with good communication abilities
Ability to work under pressure and cope with a varied portfolio of work, progressing with reduced supervision
