Morden College is a Charity dedicated to supporting older people. Founded in 1695 by the pioneering merchant, Sir John Morden, the Charity has been at the forefront of enriching older people’s lives for more than 300 years. Today the Charity’s core purpose is to provide older people who are in need with a home for life, to support them as they grow older, and to provide housing, care, and support, including residential nursing care, if the need arises. We are a strong community, committed to enabling the older people we support to have the highest quality of life, for the rest of their life.

The Charity’s Community Services are provided in the Almshouse accommodation on site at Blackheath and at Ralph Perring Court in Beckenham, through the vibrant communal space in the John Morden Centre and the case management approach that proactively identifies, assesses, and supports the most vulnerable in our community.

**JOB PURPOSE**

To drive the minibus, undertake all required vehicle checks, and maintain accurate transport records. To ensure the minibus is clean and tidy, reporting maintenance faults promptly. To provide support with events and well-bring activities. To play an active part in supporting people to live the ‘good life’ in independence by promoting dignity, independence, choice, and fulfilment within a policy of managed risk. To work flexibly, with occasional out of hours working to support resident transportation.

**KEY RESPONSIBILTIES AND DUTIES**
- To drive the College minibus, with a friendly, kind, and respectful approach to residents and colleagues
- To ensure College minibus is maintained, cleaned after use, and washed regularly.
- To maintain accurate transport records and to drive the College minibus.
- To attend all training as required and keep personal mandatory and legislative training up to date, always being open minded and progressive in your thinking.
- To be empathetic and courteous to residents and their relatives, always treating them with care and consideration and referring any incidents directly to management as appropriate.
- To maintain an open, honest, and respectful relationship with colleagues across Morden College and to communicate effectively.
- To maintain resident confidentiality and compliance with the GDPR policy.
- To understand and act on responsibilities regarding whistleblowing.
- Comply with safeguarding and other internal procedures for reporting incidents, always ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
- To comply with statutory and organisational requirements, including but not limited to Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Food Safety, Infection Control and to take responsibility for own and others’ health and safety.
- To undertake any other duties at the request of the line manager which are commensurate with the role, including General Assistant absence cover and taking part in college events.
- To work in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and related College regulations; understanding the health and safety policy and ensuring that care is taken to protect the health, safety and welfare of residents, staff, and visitors in Morden College.
- To ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulations 2016 and the Data Protection Act 2018 and Morden College policies and procedures.

**SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Satisfactory DBS check
- Authentically warm, genuine, trustworthy, honest, reliable, consistent, and caring in all their actions.
- A well-developed sense of their own behaviours and how they impact on others.
- Flexible approach to work and working hours, occasional weekends, and some evenings
- Reasonably fit and able to undertake the demanding aspects of the role.
- Clean full driving licence held for at least two years
- Licensed to drive a minibus (D1)

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 28 per week

**Salary**: £13.00-£14.00 per hour
