**About Jamie’s Farm**

Jamie’s Farm helps children to flourish at home, in education and in the community through an intensive weeklong immersion in rural life. We provide them with a tailored range of activities designed to offer everyone an opportunity for achievement, as well as a supportive family environment that encourages them to push themselves out of their comfort zone. Our therapeutic input makes use of individual and group sessions to allow children to reflect on their lives on the farm and back home, in order to draw out tangible strategies for improvements to be realised when they return.

**About Jamie’s Farm Bath**

The Bath Farm represents our first permanent home of Jamie’s Farm and is the hub of our operations. It has positively impacted on the lives of thousands of young people at risk of exclusion, educationally or socially, from when it first opened its gates over 10 years ago.

**The Kitchen**

The kitchen is the heart of the farm, and a place where young people have an opportunity to express themselves and their culture, learn new skills and enjoy working alongside others as part of a team. High-quality, delicious and healthy food is central to the experience of visiting Jamie’s Farm, both as fuel for farming adventures and as a time to eat and live as part of a ‘family’.

Our well-equipped kitchen is situated within a beautiful, converted barn, providing a light and airy communal space. Young people are involved in preparing three meals a day plus snacks, with a menu catering for a wide variety of tastes and dietary requirements, using meat from the farm and produce from the on-site garden.

**The Garden**

The garden is another vibrant and bountiful area on the farm where the young people participate in a range of activities and jobs aimed to support the upkeep of the garden as well as furthering their knowledge on how and where some of their food is grown.

A variety of seasonal produce is grown throughout the year which contributes to a substantial part of the meals throughout the week.

**Major responsibilities**:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Delivery of up to four visits per month, including
- Planning and delivering cooking and garden activities with young people
- Leading daily walks and Jamie’s Farm group meetings
- Leading evening activity sessions
- Leading of farm life activities with young people
- Contribution to weekly team meetings and monthly cross-organisational meetings
- Occasional days/weeks working at other Jamie’s Farm sites
- Occasional weekend work (TOIL given)

2. Food and Garden coordination at Jamie’s Farm, Bath
- Running engaging, dynamic and successful sessions in the kitchen and garden - ensuring young people have the sense of achievement from working in the garden and co-producing delicious meals for their peers
- Leading on the development and maintenance of the kitchen garden at Jamie’s Farm, Bath, creating a purposeful, productive, well-maintained and beautiful garden environment for young people to work in
- Creating a detailed development plan for the garden to maximise its potential throughout the year, both as a producer of food for the Jamie’s Farm kitchen and as a space for young people to learn about the natural world;
- Producing tailored weekly meal plans, taking into account allergies and dietary requirements
- Having a real interest in understanding the needs of the young people that visit each week; with particular attention and thought being paid to the food and garden element of the programme
- Placing weekly food orders with local suppliers, with a focus on high-quality ingredients, good value and low food miles where possible
- Working in both the garden and kitchen to plan meals around seasonal produce and deepen the link between garden, farm and kitchen
- Managing the catering and garden budgets effectively
- Competently plan and produce food for large events e.g. open days, charity away days, corporate visits
- Overseeing kitchen and garden volunteers to ensure a supportive, positive environment for young people
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene in compliance with Food Standard Agency regulations and in preparation for
