**Job Summary**

Abacus Children's Day Nursery is located in Dalston, Carlisle and has been open since November 2015 and was graded 'Outstanding' in all areas in October 2021, offering all of our children and their families the best possible care and outcomes.

As a Nursery Practitioner working at Abacus Nursery you can expect a warm and welcoming environment with a large outdoor space and provision that extends learning opportunities both inside and out.

**Requirements**:

- Qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in childcare (or above)
- Achieved above C grade in English & Maths (or equivalent)
- One years' experience within childcare sector, specifically in caring for children aged between three months and 18 months old.

**Preferred**:

- Have transport and/or full driving license
- Pediatric first aid certificate
- DBS - signed up to the Update Service
- Safeguarding level 2 or above
- Experience as a Room Leader / Supervisor in the Education Sector

**Responsibilities and Duties**

Formulate and operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children attending the Nursery in conjunction with the Manager.

Prepare the children's records in your group and institute reviews for parents, in conjunction with the Manager.

Work alongside children and their families in line with any additional needs and liaise with the SENCO and outside agencies.

Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.

Undertake certain domestic jobs within the Nursery, for example, preparation of snacks, serving meals and cleansing of equipment.

Attend out of working hours activities, e.g. training, staff meetings, parent's evenings, summer fayre and Christmas events.

Provide first aid if required and record any accidents/incidents using the correct documentation.

To respect the confidentiality of information received in line with regulations.

Report and record any Safeguarding concerns to the Safeguarding Officer and/or The Safeguarding Hub.

To develop your role within the team.

Participate in the training programme of a wide variety of students (i.e. placements and volunteers) by giving guidance and support.

Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the vision of the nursery is at the forefront of what we do at all times.

**Contracted hours**

To be discussed (between 36 - 40 hours)

Days varied Monday - Friday

Additional hours may be available on a weekly basis to cover staff holidays etc.
