We are delighted to announce that we are hiring a **Samples Manager** to work within the Parasites and Microbes (PaM) Programme on a 12 month Contract

**About the Role**:
**This role will help us to**:

- Coordinate and manage across Sanger, Partners and Faculty teams the ethical, legislative and Institute policy requirements for samples
- Optimise the sample acquisition, shipping, receipt, compliance and storage process
- Support researchers with data management for samples, metadata and research contracts

**About You**:
You will be an experienced samples management professional responsible for the coordination and management of ethical, legislative and Institute policy requirements, and to lead and optimise the sample acquisition, shipping, receipt, and storage process across the PaM Programme. The Samples Manager is a key contact for our internal and external partners, and will manage acquisition of human and non-human samples across PaM, including bacteria, parasites, viruses and other infectious agents and associated vectors.

**About Us**:
The Parasites & Microbes Programme is focused on understanding how the gut and respiratory microbiomes drive and impact health and disease in high and low- and middle-income settings. This is a fast-paced environment where feedback is part of the culture, and an idea can come from anywhere.

**Essential Technical Skills**:

- Degree educated in a relevant scientific discipline [Biological Sciences, Genomics, etc.] with previous experience of ensuring ethical and/or legal compliance working on large, multi-disciplinary scientific projects in a science programme, research institute, or equivalent environment
- Degree/professional qualification in Law, with previous experience of working in a science programme or equivalent environment
- Experience with organising international shipments, dealing with all required paperwork and any related issues, including courier delays and customs clearance
- Good understanding of governance and regulation of the use of human samples for scientific research.
- Excellent IT skills and attention to detail in working at scale
- Good problem-solving skills, takes responsibility for resolving any issues relating to the transfer of materials, guaranteeing time sensitive materials arrive on time and cold-chains are maintained
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience building working relationships with international collaborators and/or stakeholders
- Experience working with a LIMS/ELN or similar system to manage sample data and metadata

**Other Information**:
We have a flexible-hybrid working pattern model to allow for flexibly between remote and office working. However, this role requires the successful individual to be on campus a minimum of 3 days a week, with the flexibility to be on site whenever shipments are expected.

**Salary range**:£40,200 to £45,500 (dependant on skills and experience)

**Contract Type**: 12 month Contract
