**Role Overview**:
The Actuarial Team of 25 provides actuarial support to MINT in the following areas: pricing, business planning, reserving, commutations, capital modelling and regulatory reporting. Markel rely heavily on actuarial input in all aspects of the financial managementof the business.

The mission of the Actuarial department is to assist MINT in achieving consistent underwriting profit and superior financial results by providing a high quality actuarial service.

This role is specific to reserving, but will involve touchpoints with aggregations, pricing, planning and capital model parameterisation.

**What you'll be doing**:

- Prepare divisional combined ratio packs as part of the quarterly reserving process and present them to the MINT Board and others, including both ongoing and discontinued business.
- Provide analysis and guidance to senior management to assist in the formulation of strategy on highlighted lines of business.
- Assist with development and mentoring of more junior members of the team.
- Plan and parameterise insurance risk in the capital model.
- Support reserving process enhancements.
- Assist with production of year-end reports and Trust Fund calculations.
- Support the Solvency II Technical Provisions process, with a view to modifying and improving the process.
- Be proactive with the improvement of internal processes.

**What we're looking for**:

- Be a qualified member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
- Have a numerate degree with a classification of 2:1 or above, or equivalent.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience of working within the Lloyd's and London market.
- Have experience of supervising and/or handling actuarial students and reviewing their work.
- Have knowledge of reserving regulatory requirements.
- Have excellent IT skills - especially Excel, VBA and SQL
