**Job description**

Little Tots Day Nursery is part of a group of Privately owned Childcare Settings, offering exceptionally high standards of childcare and education for children aged 0 to 5 years. We are looking for an experienced cleaner to be responsible for ensuring all areas of the nursery are clean and tidy, reporting any potential maintenance issues to the manager.
- Have proven experience in a similar role
- Able to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the setting at all times
- Be able to identify any needs/and or issues around the nursery
- Need a clear and valid DBS - oversee applicants will need a clear and valid certificate of good conduct

**Your Responsibilities and Duties will involve**:

- To clean all areas of the day nursery including toilets, kitchen, play rooms and staff areas
- To clean all surfaces of the day nursery including carpets, lino, wooden floors, paintwork, tiles and wallpaper
- Report any maintenance issues that prevent safe and efficient cleaning of these areas.
- Ensure there is sufficient stock levels and correct equipment within the nursery, ensuring that shortages do not prevent cleaning.
- Ensure all high and low level dusting is completed.
- To be committed to the safeguarding of all children
- To report to the Office Manager any hazards or defects seen which are likely to affect security or safety i.e. broken windows, window catches, furniture, equipment etc.
- To assist in managing resources by using cleaning and janitorial materials appropriately and economically informing the Office Manager when stock levels are low.
- To be responsible for the care of all cleaning equipment and materials ensuring the cleaner’s storage areas are kept clean and tidy and that all chemicals are locked in the storage cupboards.
- To use only the approved cleaning materials supplied by the pre-school and in accordance with the manufacturers printed instructions and COSHH regulations. Chemicals should NEVER be mixed with other chemicals.
- To be aware of all the policies and procedures that should be put into practice whilst working including compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act and COSHH regulations.
- To be aware of their responsibilities for Health and Safety of themselves and others.
- To use step ladders when necessary and with due regard to health and safety of themselves and others. It is recommended that when one person only is present, that they climb no more than three steps.
- To attend all meetings requested by the Office Manager

**Person Specification**
- **Experience**_

1 year experience working as a cleaner in a professional environment (nursery or school desirable)

Excellent understanding of Safeguarding Children

Working with Health and Safety legislation including COSHH
- **Training**_

Level 1 (Basic) Safeguarding and Child Protection Certificate

Level 2 (Basic) Food and Hygiene Certificate*

Health and Safety in Early Years*

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 10 hours per week

**Salary**: £11.44 per hour
