An excellent opportunity has arisen for a thorough and well organised individual to join our Finance Department in the role of Accounts Assistant on a fixed term basis. The purpose of this role is to support the accounts function by taking responsibility for accounting related activities such as but not limited to reporting, ledger maintenance, administration and account reconciliation.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to take our financial and information systems to the next level by focussing on day to day continuous improvement, developing staff capabilities and embedding the progressive changes that have taken place over the last five years.

**Responsibilities Include**:

- Processing of invoices, supplier payments and remittances. Entering financial transactions onto the ledger
- Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Validating invoices and delivery notes against goods received and checking against relevant reports.
- Liaising with the supplier to request further copies of invoices when they have not been received.
- Generation and printing of financial related reports
- Maintenance of accounting related spreadsheets such as fixed assets and items on hold
- Carrying out analysis and investigation into accounting discrepancies as and when required
- Supporting with the processing of expenses and allocating towards the correct cost centres
- Developing effective working relationships with suppliers, stakeholders and employees to enable the delivery of a first class financial service.
- Responding to basic accounts related queries and provide data/information where required.
- Produce various financial related letters and documents
- Supporting with the preparation of management accounts, payroll and month-end duties
- Taking ownership for the delivery and tracking of KPI’s within area of responsibility.
- Providing administrative support to other areas of the business as and when required

**Our perfect Accounts Assistant would have**:

- Basic accounts knowledge is essential. Purchase Ledger experience would prove advantageous
- A professional and hands-on approach. Highly accurate with an passion for getting things right
- A meticulous eye for detail with the ability to spot errors in data. Highly numerate
- Some familiarity with financial regulations would be an advantage
- The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Active listening skills; collaborates and shares expertise with others. Great team player
- The ability to interpret processes and improve their effectiveness; well organised and efficient
- A focus on the customer experience; able to provide a pragmatic and responsive service.
- The ability to deliver against tight deadlines
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel and Word

**Qualifications**

A finance related qualification (or working towards a finance related qualification) such as AAT or ACCA would prove advantageous but isn’t essential.

**The hours you would work**

2 days per week (with the option to select your days between Monday and Thursday), 16.5 hours per week
