An exciting opportunity to join the team at the innovative Children’s Country House at Sudbury for the day-to-day planning and delivery of an engaging, informative and playful schools and family learning offer. This will enable children connect with our places and our work and ensure their needs are met, as one of the key national Children and Young People Hubs for the National Trust. You will enable a broad range of children and school groups to have outstanding and inspirational experiences and your creative and workshops skills will be fully utilised to help deliver other aspects of family programming at the Children’s Country House. Reporting to and working with the Children’s and Community Manager, you will evaluate the impact of the offer and share this learning to inform and develop future plans.

As a Volunteer Manager, you will be working closely with volunteers who assist our learning programme, as well as taking on regular Day Manager duties for the site. This role includes regular weekend and school holiday working.

We work across teams to create a playful and immersive heritage day out, encouraging children to laugh, learn, explore and engage. We also want this same sense of wonder and curiosity for everyone who works at CCH, enabling our staff to engage with our family visitors and share in the fun and enjoyment.

We have worked closely with children and families to design this new National Trust visitor experience, which includes the grand setting of the 17 th century Sudbury Hall, the playful Museum of Childhood and the historic grounds, complete with den-building activities.

What you'll be doing:You'll be covering every aspect of a schools visit to the Children’s Country House, from dealing with preliminary enquiries to taking a lead role in the delivery of specific activities and experiences for schools, groups and children visiting the property, ensuring the offer is engaging and appropriate.

You'll ensure that all necessary administrative tasks are up-to-date and completed, enabling access needs are met, as well as compliance with health and safety. You'll champion best practice approaches to safeguarding in everything we do.

You'll collaborate with other departments across the Children’s Country House at Sudbury, ensuring an inclusive team culture, that responds to the schools and learning programme and that can develop future audiences for our work.

As a Day Manager, you'll work across site to ensure the smooth operation of the Children’s Country House, working closely with all staff and volunteers. As a creative facilitator, you'll work with others, both internal and external, to research and develop new school and participatory programmes for the Children’s Country House.
