**Scala Developer**

A London based, large financial institute is looking for a Scala Developer. Nothing out of the ordinary there right?

However, due to the scale of the projects you will be working on, this isn't your ordinary Scala developer role.

Looking to go further in your developer career? This company are passionate about career development and if you can hold your own working on complex and challenging projects on a daily basis, they will look to promote you very quickly.

There will be a lot of Greenfield projects to get involved with, but the company has also done a lot of work internally, migrating from a legacy system to a more robust and modern one.

As **Scala Developer** you'll get the option to work remotely from wherever suits you, but the company has a plush London office that they would like you to visit occasionally.

So if you work with Scala, want to work on some Greenfield projects, want to be challenged technically and solve complex problemsthen let's keep going

**What does 'complex and challenging' look like for your day to day as a Scala Developer?**
- You will be tasked to come up with unique ways to work and visually present with large sets of data
- Solve complex problems while working with the wider team
- Due to how large and challenging the product is, you will be expected to grasp a service level understanding of it but have that grow over time
- Due to this being a SaaS product, there will be customer facing interaction, so a 'yes' attitude to working with them and the wider business is a huge plus. Things are never straight forward, so a flexible approach to work is needed. - No that that doesn'tmean you will be working outside of contracted hours.
- A growing team always involves having junior and grad devs, so an ability to answer questions, proactively approach others and help / mentor, makes things go smoother.

**Ideally you'll be a Scala Developer with**
- 3 to 5 years' experience in software engineering
- 1-3 years' experience in Scala
- You will need exposure to Akka, Kafka, Docker and MySQL
- Understanding of SQL and data modelling
- Linux environment

Outside of the tech listed, if you are a strong communicator and team player, who can work with tech and non-technical people alike.

If you are able to work in a co located highly technical team alongside an industry leading operation/business leaders.

If you like to take or would like to take a lead role and always be learning.
