Gateway Officer

We are seeking a Gateway Officer to work with clients to combat homelessness, poverty, and marginalisation across East Sussex.

**Hours**: 37 hours per week (Monday - Friday)

**About the Role**

As Gateway Officer, you will be working for a people-led organisation whose mission is ‘combating homelessness, creating opportunities, promoting change.’

You will be responsible for taking direct referrals from potential clients, and from our referral partners and are the first point of contact for the Service. Gateway Officers are responsible for ensuring that all required information is obtained to progress referrals. This includes carrying out initial assessments of clients’ support needs and an initial risk assessment to determine clients’ eligibility. Gateway Officers are responsible for accurately inputting client data into our database In-Form and for liaising with referrers and self-referrers on assessment outcomes. Where clients do not meet the Service eligibility criteria Gateway Officers offer signposting to appropriate provision where required.

**About You**

To be successful in the role of Housing Support Officer you will need to have great communication skills and be committed to the values of the organisation. Some of the key skills and experience you will need to bring with you include:

- Experience of managing incoming referrals and undertaking assessments
- Experience of working in partnership with other agencies
- Knowledge of safeguarding issues in relation to adults and children
