**JOB TITLE**: Assistant Stockperson

**DEPARTMENT**:Rycote Park Farm, Thame, Oxfordshire

**REPORTS TO**:The Farm Manager and Owners

**MAIN PURPOSE** **OF JOB**:
To assist in the management of the highly productive in-hand pedigree Aberdeen Angus beef herd and pedigree Castle Milk Moorit sheep flock and ensure that the farm continues to operate to the high welfare and environmental standards currently in place.

**DUTIES**:
**Operational**:

- Assist in day to day management of the farm, herd, flock, grazing, machinery and environmental schemes.
- Assume full responsibility for the farm when the Farm Manager is off site.
- Assist in the planning, control and implementation of stock management and grazing routines.
- Ensure that estate health and safety policy and procedures are adhered to.
- Work alongside the Farm Manager to ensure the farming environment complies with all subsidy, environmental and statutory schemes as they affect the farm business.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of the annual farm budget.
- Any other duties as directed by the Farm Manager.
- To facilitate and support as required, Estate events and other activities and, as far as possible, adapt the farming system to accommodate them.
- Forage, straw making and hauling.

**Herd/Flock Management Duties**:

- Feeding, bedding, watering, handling of cattle/sheep.
- Monitoring health status and ensuring correct tagging and identification.
- Treating of sick animals and assisting the Vets in routine inspections of the herd/flock.
- Assisting in the management of stock rotations and grassland growth.

**Administration & Reporting**:

- Reporting to Farm Manager.
- Assistance in the administration and supervision of the Farm’s administrative record keeping and compliance systems.

**Business Development**:

- Promotion of “best practice” within every aspect of the Farm’s activities.
- Support the Farm Manager in the Farms delivery of the Owner’s wider estate activities
- To continue to strive to improve productivity, product quality and consistency of supply.

**Salary**: From £20,000.00 per year
