We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic Scrub Practitioner (Nurse/ODP) to join our busy Day Surgery Ward looking after patients undergoing procedures such within our brand new Day Case Theater at the Day Surgery Unit at Singleton Theaters.

Working as part of a team, the role requires a flexible approach to work with the ability to communicate and work well with the wider multidisciplinary team.

We have various hours available to accommodate full-time or part-time working. Singleton Hospital is working towards becoming a Center of Excellence for Elective Surgery for Swansea Bay Health Board, so this is an exciting time to join our service and be part of a fantastic Theater team.

The Day Surgery Unit Service comprises of three day case theaters and we operate Monday to Friday between 730-6pm providing a regional Plastic & Orthopedic Hand Trauma service along with elective Ophthalmology service. Our patients undergo procedures under local, regional and general anesthesia.

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurses/ODP’s to join our busy Scrub Team within Day Surgery Unit at Singleton Theatres. Working as part of a team, the role requires a flexible approach to work with the ability to communicate and work well with the wider multidisciplinary team. We have various hours available to accommodate full-time or part-time working.

The Theatre Service In Day Surgery Unit operates Monday to Friday, covering surgical specialties such as, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics and Plastics Trauma.

Although you will be based at Day Surgery Unit in Singleton Hospital on occasions you may be required to work in Main Theatre to meet services demand and to develop your skills to become a flexible practitioner. It is essential that you are keen to learn and committed to continuous professional development.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply

Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, by provision or appropriate surgical instrumentation and equipment.

Take responsibility to ensure all surgical equipment is disposed of correctly including ensuring appropriate decontamination and sterilisation of reusable equipment is carried out and can be evidenced.

Ensure all documentation for traceability is effectively completed.

Having an awareness of the patient specific requirements for each case including lenses/implants or other bespoke items and to the need to ensure the theater team lead and or CSM is aware of any issues.

Use clinical judgement and analytical skills to pro-actively identify potential problems, with special regard for surgical instrumentation, turn around times for decontamination and sterilisation of reusable items.
