We are looking to recruit a Host / Hostess to assist and support the Food and Beverage team at The Celtic Manor Resort.
In this role the successful applicant will be working in one of the Restaurants, welcoming our dining guests, taking phone calls, preparing bills, managing the restaurant reservations, co-ordinating the private functions and providing administrative support. We are looking for someone who is keen on a career in hospitality with a hands-on approach. Customer service and creating the WOW experience for which the resort is renowned is one of the key remits of the role, therefore it is paramount that you are a passionate about delivering outstanding customer service. We are looking for evidence of excellent people skills, a ‘can do’ attitude and who can deal with the pressures of day-to-day operational issues.
**Key Duties**
- Responsible for delivering the ultimate in professional internal/external customer service with the standards expected and trained by the Department.
- Responsible for all stock and the care and control of all professional equipment within your working environment.
- Responsible for the cleanliness and presentation within your working environment in accordance with set standards.
- Participates in monthly audits and checks on all equipment to verify its location and ensure its full, safe operation.
- Responsible for escalating any complaints to the Department Manager immediately, providing full details.
- Coverage of the Restaurant phone during business hours, taking reservations, logging of events and functions in the booking sheets.
- Fully competent in both Reservations and Front of house POS as well as good understanding of Microsoft office.
- Should have comprehensive knowledge of hotel facilities with detailed knowledge of all food and beverage areas.
- Greets and seats with warm and friendly approach, makes a good first impression and ensure they are satisfied when they leave.
- Knows floor plan, reads server station assignments and knows table numbers and section.
- Before opening, check menus for cleanliness and freshness.
- Provides a smile and friendly greeting for guests, uses guest’s names (if known), confirms number in party, asks guests for their seating preference and special needs, walks with guests at their place to the table, alerts guests to steps and inclines, assists if necessary and informs the Floor staff and Shift Manager of special needs.
- Presents menus to guests and explains specials of the day, informs the Shift Manager and the Floor Staff of guest presence at the table and returns to the desk to greet guests, checks the Restaurant for guests who are ready to leave, makes out the bills when needed.
- Thanks guests when they are leaving, asks them to return, asks about their dining experience. Must be able to handle guest’s complaints and pressure.
- Performs duties that require standing and moving throughout the dining room and Bar Areas.
- Communicates with guests demonstrating confidence and encourages them to feel unique and special.
- Arrives in the outlet ready to start shift on time.
- Ensures personal presentation and hygiene is always to a high standard and in line with resort standards.
- Cultivates cooperation and teamwork among all staff, always courteous to customers and employees, and consistently follows all policies of management and the organization.
- Performs related duties and special assignments as and when required.
