Cygnets Preschool (Selby Abbey C.E. Primary School) have a vacancy for an enthusiastic and passionate early years practitioner to join our busy preschool.

Selby Abbey Primary is a 2-11 Church of England school that has recently received a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating. Cygnets preschool provide care and education for children aged 2-4 years between the hours of 8am and 6pm term time only. Our main aim is to achieve the very highest standards of educational learning, within a caring exciting and stimulating environment. We work hard to ensure pupils reach their full potential and are dedicated to supporting the personal development and wellbeing of all learners within or school.

We are looking for someone to join our team who has a sound knowledge of the EYFS. You would be required to work as a key person and as part of the preschool team under the direction of the preschool managers, to provide safe, high quality education and care for ages 2-4.

The position is on a fixed term contract to 31/08/2023 in the first instance with an outlook to becoming an established post. The hours to be worked are:
Tuesday 9 am - 6 pm

Wednesday 9 am - 3pm

Thursday 9 am - 3pm

Friday 8am - 6pm

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- Be a Key Person to a small group of children
- Carry out observations, track development, and provide stimulating activities while maintaining a safe environment.
- Assist with the planning of the curriculum
- Maintain a professional manner at all times and have experience in creating good partnerships with parents
- Attend staff meetings, parent’s evenings, and occasional flexible working which may require attendance outside your normal working hours.
- Follow all pre-school policies, including those relating to safeguarding and confidentiality.
- Support children to meet developmental milestones.
- Hold a NVQ Level 3 preferred, minimum level 2 in early years education and childcare qualification or equivalent.
- Have a willingness to learn and enhance professional development.
- Be able to work well independently as well as part of a small team.
- Be punctual and reliable.
- Previous experience of working with young children
- Friendly, flexible approach.
