Arborist

Fixed term - 2 years

Sunderland City Council are committed to keeping our city clean and green, around the clock. We are looking to recruit a qualified Arborist to join our growing Arbor team to assist us in maintaining and developing Sunderland's tree stock.

As an Arborist you will be responsible for maintaining and making trees safe across the City of Sunderland. All applicants must have:
Knowledge of safe working practices

Knowledge of tree maintenance and the different species of trees

Experience of carrying out tree maintenance works

Hold relevant NPTC or Lantra Qualifications

Experience of team working

A full UK driving Licence

A level 2 qualification in Forestry and Arboriculture - would be extremely desirable.

As an employee of Sunderland City Council, you will be entitled to 25 days leave, increasing to 30 days with 5 years continuous service, plus bank holidays. Applicants must be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions in a job that is physically demanding. Your normal working hours will be Monday to Friday, from 07.30 until 15.30 (15.00 on a Friday) (37 hours per week). You will be required to form part of a standby rota.
