Are you a motivated individual looking for a rewarding career in customer service? West Berkshire Council is currently recruiting for an Apprentice Customer Service Assistant to join our Library Service based at Newbury Library. This is a fantastic opportunity to kick-start your career and gain valuable experience within a supportive and dynamic team.

You will be required to complete an 18 month training plan which will cover all aspects of the role and will be delivered through blended learning delivered by a registered training provider. This will be followed by a 3 month assessment period. The role is therefore fixed term for 21 months.

**The Role**:
As an Apprentice Customer Service Assistant, you will provide excellent frontline customer service to visitors at Newbury Library. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming and assisting library users, providing information and guidance on library resources and services.
- Assisting with administrative tasks such as book reservations, issuing library cards, and managing lending records.
- Supporting the smooth operation of library events and activities, ensuring a positive experience for all participants.

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals.
- A positive and friendly demeanor, with the ability to provide excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail in order to multitask and manage your workload effectively.
- Computer literacy and a willingness to learn and adapt to different IT systems.
