SRM Recruitment are supporting a division of a FTSE listed client of ours, in the transport and travel space, to identify a Systems Accountant.

This is a London based role, with a flexible approach to work and an expectation of 2-3 days in the office.

Please note that sponsorship cannot be considered for this role

The Systems Accountant role is critical to the ownership of all key finance systems used by the division, being responsible for the maintenance, development and control of the systems to ensure they remain efficient and meet all divisional needs whilst maintainingrobust internal controls.

Key accountabilities:

- Ownership within the finance division of SAP ECC finance system administration, controlling the maintenance and development (incl. testing) and training of the system, working with the SAP Manager and corporate entities.
- Act as the main point of contact within the division for financial system issues and liaise with SAP / other divisional BI teams along with other teams as applicable to resolve.
- Control the SAP Chart of Accounts, Financial Statements Versions and Account Groups to ensure alignment across the Division.
- Key interface between Finance and I.S. SAP/divisional BI teams to ensure SAP ECC is robust and facilitates the control and reporting requirements of corporate division and Entities Finance community.
- Management & Control of Group’s consolidation system ensuring its maintained and aligned with Group Finance.
- Support the FP&A Manager to drive implementation and development of SAP BPC and ongoing ownership of its maintenance and BAU development.
- Maintain and control SAP Concur expense system.
- Key interface between Finance and divisional BI Teams supporting the maintenance and development of data feeds and reporting.
- Support wider divisional finance community through local finance system leads to improve processes and utilisation of systems e.g. exploring opportunities for automation and providing technical support/system knowledge and training.
- Explore future reporting tools and systems, leading best practice agenda and wider system development.
- Support the divisional finance team and divisional business units with system projects as required.

Qualifications and memberships
- Part (working towards) or Qualified accountant (i.e. CIMA/ ACA /ACCA) or equivalent

Job specific knowledge and skills
- Excellent information technology skills including advanced Excel and a good understanding of databases, data uploads, extraction, and interfaces with other systems
- Detailed working knowledge and affinity for financial and reporting systems and software, with a good appreciation of current technologies and the will to continually adjust to these technologies and drive forward changes.
- Solid understanding and experience of Financial and Management reporting and external reporting
- Experience of transforming finance reporting requirements into technical system design requirements through collaboration with IT system support
- Driving process and systems efficiencies through continuous improvement
- Experience of implementing and understand robust system control processes to manage control risks.
- Effective communication and relationship building skills across finance, business and IT.
- Excellent team working skills including the ability to contribute proactively and supportively to the delivery of team initiatives.
- The ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Relevant experience:

- Proven track record in effective maintenance and control of finance and reporting systems
- Experience of SAP ECC, BI, BPC, Concur, Onestream and Hyperion.
- Experience of working within an accounting environment including development and deployment of finance reporting systems, procedures and controls.
- Experience of managing, delivering and supporting a variety of challenging projects including technical, systems and controls.
- Proven track record of providing an effective interface between finance and system/IT colleagues
- Proven track record of providing value add insight and recommendations
- Experience within transport/travel would be useful but is not essential
- Head office / group finance experience would be advantageous but is also not essential

Salary is £55-£65,000 + benefits
