**Key Purpose of the job
- Promote quality care and learning**

❖ To work as a support to the Managers and Directors in maintaining high quality, flexible childcare.

❖ To support the smooth running of the setting on a day to day basis.

❖ To promote the aims of the Nursery and embrace the ethos under which it operates
- a child centred approach and an environment which is warm, welcoming and stimulating to all.

❖ To work closely with the Directors and Management in driving forward continuous improvement.

**Support for setting**

❖ To be an effective memberof the management team and contribute to the strategic planning, monitoring, evaluating and development of the nursery.

❖ To develop an understanding of statutory requirements together with knowledge around effectivepractice.

❖ To support the monitoring of staff absence management.

❖ To support the manager in opening and locking the nursery.

❖ To carryout show rounds when requested.

❖ To support the manager with debt collection.

❖ To support the manager with keeping the training folder up to date claiming for the coursesaccordingly, monitoring acceptance letters, informing the nursery diary of events and also monitoring monies received from Sure Start in accordance with the claims.

❖ To support the completion of rotas weekly and ensure children are charged accordingly and that all Fee sheets are kept up to date.

❖ Registers and Ratio checks.

❖ Assist the rooms ensuring ratios are correct and offer help/advice/guidance where necessary.

❖ Liaise closely, building up a partnership and ensuring thorough communication throughout the day.

❖ End of Day duties checking final standards within the rooms, challenging mistakes and leaving notes for the appropriate person as required. Ensuring preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the nursery playrooms and equipment.

❖ To support the wellbeing of the children, families and practitioners within the setting.

❖ To support the whole staff team to consistently meet the individual needs of the children and their families through providing play and learning opportunities and maintaining high standards of quality care and educational provision.

❖ To support staff in creating and maintaining a purposeful environment which supports the delivery of play and learning experiences for all children attending the setting.

❖ To provide support to the staff team, guiding them, and helping them increase their skills and confidence.

❖ To ensure the nursery is equipped with suitable high-quality materials which enhance the children’s play spaces appropriately.

❖ To be a role model at all times to children, families, fellow practitioners, students and those from the local community.

❖ Ensuring effective staff standards are maintained addressing any issues with staff immediately.

❖ To feed into the appraisal process.

❖ To attend staff meetings and in-house training programmes in order to fulfil the role with UpToDateknowledge.

❖ To provide regular feedback to the directors and managers.

❖ To contribute to the completion of the SEF, reviewing and reflection on practices on a regular basis.

❖ To promote, attend and represent the nursery brand at functions and on training courses.

❖ To receive and deal with complaints in a positive and efficient manner.

❖ Welcoming environment
- ensuring a strict door policy is adhered to and encourage a close relationship between yourself and parents.

❖ Supporting the induction of new staff, students and apprenticeships. Promoting a healthy work culture.

❖ Constantly ensure the general standards of the nursery are high and rewarding good practice accordingly.

❖ Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Management Team, Proprietors or Directors.

**Support for parents and carers**

To work in partnership with children, parents, carers, other staff and organisations in the best interests of children and families by:
❖ To support the nurturing of positive relationships between parents, carers and children. Ensuring every avenue to exploited to ensure they feel welcomed and valued within the setting. Ensure each individual need is met and every parent’s requests are fulfilled. Supporting the settling in and transition periods closely ensuring continuity for all.

❖ Confidently develop trusting, honest relationships with parents, sharing information about the day’s activities, promoting parental involvement. Foster respectful relationships and keep them updated on the child’s progress or highlight any concerns. Talk with parents on a daily basis, keeping a strong rapport with all family members and work to foster good relationships.

❖ This professional partnership with parents follows with other agencies and organisations.
