The post holder will act as an experienced State Registered Biomedical Scientist to provide a continuous, comprehensive Cellular Pathology service as an aid to effective diagnosis and treatment.
To undertake routine and advanced preparatory and interpretive techniques to include Immunohistochemistry and Research projects.
To perform technical duties as required in Cellular Pathology to necessary standards, and within the guidelines of Health and Safety regulations, in support of the provision of a diagnostic service to patients.
The post holder practices as a Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Biomedical Scientist performing routine tasks unsupervised when necessary, but directed by senior Biomedical Scientists according to the operational requirements of the service. The post holder will also be expected to work independently.
The post holder will maintain personal and professional development and competency to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff development and training.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Cellular Pathology Department at Swansea Bay University Health Board as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist / Trainee BMS.
The department is continually developing services and as a BMS you would be at the forefront of developments such as the implementation of Molecular Pathology Services and the all-Wales Digital Pathology Programme.
Applications are invited from graduates (or students who are about to graduate) with an accredited IBMS degree in Biomedical Science or students who are about to graduate from a healthcare science practitioner training programme (PTP) degree.
The Cellular Pathology Department has an excellent record in achieving HCPC registration for Trainee Biomedical Science graduates who have not already achieved this.
We offer a wide range of development opportunities and CPD activities, and are currently supporting a number of staff through MSc courses.
The department is fully UKAS accredited under ISO 15189 standards and is well equipped with state of the art equipment.
