An opportunity has arisen for a motivated, hardworking band 2 Healthcare Assistant to work within our busy ophthalmic Emergency Department at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre. The applicant must have already obtained an NVQ 2 in health and social care or equivalent qualification. Ophthalmic experience is desirable but not essential. The Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre is the second largest eye hospital in the country. We are a regional referral centre and we see patients with a wide range of eye problems and of all ages. We have alongside the Emergency Department, Urgent Care Clinics in operation on a daily basis in which the HCA will have the opportunity to oversee.
- Visual acuity
- Vital signs
- Overseeing of clinics
- Preparation of clinical rooms
- History taking
- Supporting band 5 staff nurses
- Eye irrigation
- Inputting of data
- Phlebotomy
- Distribution of stores
- Assisting with the general cleanliness and tidying of department
- Other relevant tasks in promoting personal development
