We currently have over 300 employees operating out of 8 distribution depots, 3 manufacturing sites and our Head Office at the Port of Tilbury.
**What is the main purpose of the role?**
Reporting to the Group Procurement Director, the Head of Procurement will be responsible for the day-to-day inventory planning and buying of key softwood and panel products. The role combines the ‘front-end’ commercial element of our business with significant purchasing responsibilities, alongside the ‘back-end’ commercial part of the business, where there will be substantial interaction with the sales, sales management and senior leadership team. You will be based at our Head office in Tilbury.
**What are the key areas of responsibility?**
- Drive initiatives for continuous improvement in the procurement process.
- Implement internal and supplier KPI’s with a robust process for review.
- Manage and nurture a portfolio of existing suppliers and establish new supplier relations that are commercially beneficial.
- Liaise with relevant operations and financial stakeholders to ensure smooth flow of goods and to allow for financial planning.
- Develop and improve stock control / stock management process.
- Introduce new products in coordination with business objectives and the management team.
- Lead and develop the procurement team to ensure all day-to-day tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Stay informed about market trends and industry developments to ensure we maintain our competitive edge.
- Provide reports and analysis to allow for comprehensive analysis of key purchasing and stock metrics.
**What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?**
- Knowledge of the timber industry and/or complimentary market sectors will be required.
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of results
- Highly developed commercial acumen for interpreting the market to make buying decisions.
- Sound sales and trading judgement to enable growth of existing and new products.
- Data gathering and analysis to make informed buying decisions.
- Good communication skills, used to working in a collaborative way
- Full UK Driving licence required. Role will require regular UK and International travel.

**Salary**: £50,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
