The Regal plays an important role in the Tenbury community. The Regal is proud of its high specification projection, lighting and sound equipment which enables it to show live screen and satellite broadcast events, touring theatre companies, visiting bands and shows as well as its own large and small productions, music from the community and local schools and its own classes in art, drama and dance. The multi purpose Studio at the rear of the building facilitates simultaneous performances with the main auditorium, so doubling the need for volunteers.

**Location**:
Regal Tenbury Projection room / Auditorium

**Role purpose**:
The **projectionist** operates the digital projector, to shows films/external content such as blu-ray and satellite/live stream, providing an excellent standard of film presentation and to be able to trouble-shoot basic projection related issues as required.

**Main Tasks / duties**:

- **Level 1** - To follow a standardised start up and shut down procedure for cinema operations:

- Switching on the projector, and sound.
- Showing films (check correct operation and playback of both picture and sound during the show).
- To effectively communicate any identified issues which may affect audience enjoyment with relevant staff and volunteers.
- Shutting down the projector and sound.

**Level 2** - as above plus:

- Live stream, satellite, and Blu-ray.

**Level 3** - as above plus:

- Receiving and checking films.
- Digitally loading the films onto the projector.
- Access other content e.g. adverts / trailers.
- Building film playlists.

**Induction**

This will be completed by the lead Projectionist / Team Co-ordinator.

**Skills and qualities Required**:

- Reasonable technical / IT skills - to be able to carry out basic tasks on a computer.
- Able to use your own initiative to deal with arising unplanned situations.
- Having patience and being able to remain calm under pressure.
- Willingness to commit to agreed duty times, but also flexible and open to change.
- To be able to follow detailed instructions.
- The ability to work well with others.
- No lower age limit except for age-appropriate films (e.g. 15 / 18).
- Be reliable, punctual and be able to fulfil the requirements of the position
- A flexible and adaptable approach to fulfilling the duties of the post

**Commitment**:
This is a pivotal role, and without it the show can’t go on

**Support / Training**:
Introduction to the Regal - people, events and processes, from the Projection Co-ordinator. This includes induction and shadowing, various methods of training (internal/external), by face-to-face courses, or online. Areas covered will include Fire safety, First Aid, and other areas as deemed necessary for the role. We use a digital projector and have really clear instructions on how to operate it.
