We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at our centre based in Cambridge, CB8 area.

As the Healthcare Assistant you provide support to the clinical teams, nursing staff, consultants and diagnostic radiographers by performing tasks that facilitate the smooth running of our services as well as positively and proactively contributing to building strong and enduring relations with all stakeholders including consultants, patients, clinical and non-clinical colleagues.

Hours: Full time, permanent

What you’ll do:
Key areas for the role:
- Answer telephone and relay messages promptly- Prepare units prior to treatment- Prepare clinic rooms prior to consultant clinics- Prepare clinic lists and medical records

Your key responsibilities:
- Prepare specialist trolleys prior to clinics and procedures- Ensure general tidiness of consulting rooms and clinical areas- Maintain clean environment, adhering to infection control policy- Ensure adequate stocks are maintained, ordering stock where needed- Provide chaperone service when required- Participate in provision of care to patients as directed by nurses, radiographer or consultants- Assist consultants and nurses with clinical procedures- Supervise/assist patients with dressing as required- Supervise/assist patient’s mobility- Act as patient advocate at all times- Promote the centre as a provider of high-quality healthcare- Record temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and accurately chart when required, report abnormal readings to qualified nurse or consultant- Obtain blood and other samples from patients and ensure their correct and safe storage and transportation to the laboratory- Perform simple dressings (aseptic technique), accurately record in evaluation, ensuring it is countersigned by a qualified nurse- Adhere to company standards in respect of appearance, behaviour and demeanour at all times- Where required, provide assistance to the radiographers in the MRI and PET CT suites- Assist with admin in pharmacy department- Carry out any other duties appropriate for a post of this nature- Ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained in respect of personal information in accordance with GenesisCare polices and statutory legislation

What you’ll have:
Experience and skills:
- Strong relationship building skills- Able to work flexibly to achieve GenesisCare business objectives and meet unpredictable demands- Good communication skills- Experience in venepuncture (Not essential - can be trained in house)-
- Evidence of effective staff liaison and co-operative working- Evidence of an empathetic approach to patients and or customers- Experience in the healthcare sector- Experience in a customer focused environment- Able to demonstrate a professional approach at all times whilst under pressure- Smart and well presented - Confident, articulate, diplomatic and tactful- Able to demonstrate flexibility with work hours and cover for others- Prepared to travel to meetings and training courses if required

Qualifications and Knowledge:
- NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care (or QFC)- Have a level of understanding of customer care- Have an awareness of UK health environment- Have an awareness of data protection and patient confidentiality
