**Role**: Vocational Assessor - HMP Five Wells

**Location**: HMP Five Wells

**Salary**: £23,960.00 - £28,560.00 per annum

**Overview**:
As a Vocational Assessor at HMP Five Wells, you will have the opportunity to positively impact learners' lives by delivering a high-quality curriculum in vocational areas within the prison estate. Your role will involve teaching, assessing, and working alongside prison instructors.

**Main Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Deliver industry-recognized qualifications in prison industries, such as Warehousing, Manufacturing Operations, and Customer Service.
- Handle organizational and administrative tasks.
- Prepare, assess, and mark assignments.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive course files, including scheme of learning and lesson planning.
- Create and manage Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and contextual statements to monitor learner progress in prison industries.
- Maintain accurate records of registers, learner enrolments, and completions.
- Participate in team meetings and engage in continued professional development.
- Manage learner behavior, addressing negative behavior following college and prison processes.
- Enhance learning through additional projects and activities beyond the curriculum.
- Provide differentiated learning to meet individual learner needs, including additional support for learners with learning difficulties and disabilities.
- Actively market and promote Offender Learning, recruiting learners to courses.
- Contribute to our client's Prison Education and the prison's administration as required.
- Participate in staff appraisal, staff development, and training activities.
- Collect student data related to retention rates, examination results, progress, and satisfaction surveys.
- Collaborate effectively with the prison service, internal teams, and external partners.
- Engage employers in post-release activities, supporting learners' employment and curriculum delivery.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes, monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating courses.
- Comply with awarding body requirements regarding External Quality Assurance.
- Participate in Weston College publicity, public relations events, and open events as requested.
- Implement good practice in Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, Child Protection, and Data Protection policies.
- Fulfill all security requirements of the prison, adhering to professional conduct standards.
- Perform other duties as reasonably required by the line manager.

**Generic Responsibilities**:
All teachers/lecturers/tutors are responsible for maintaining high levels of teaching and learning and supporting colleagues and learners in delivering our client's education contract. This includes complying with Weston College and HMPPS processes and procedures within a prison environment.

**Hours**:
Full-time, 37 hours per week.

**Person Specification**:
**Essential**:

- Five GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent), including English Language and Mathematics.
- Evidence of a Level 2 Qualification in Mathematics and English Language or willingness to obtain it during
- Vocational Assessors Award or willingness to work towards this
- Subject specific qualification
- Experience working with offenders
- Drivers license and access to vehicle
- Prison vetting and clearance, clear DBS
