**This is a temporary role on a fixed term basis for 12 x months**

**This is a full time role working 37 hours per week**

**Who are we looking for?**

As our Media Advisor, you will be a specialist in media relations and how this is used to build relationships and tell the story about all the great things we do at Yorkshire Water. You will support the development of our content strategy and will successfully implement this across the business, ensuring media is used effectively to generate a high level of company trust, customer satisfaction and audience engagement.

You will lead, drive and produce compelling content through the media and online and proactively identify and manage emerging reputational risks and opportunities and develop effective relationships with journalists, editors, bloggers, influencers and other online commentators.

Some other key responsibilities include the following
- Deliver planned and effective media campaigns, activity and engagement to facilitate the performance of the business, seeking out and creating stories that generate coverage both off and online
- Develop and deliver compelling material to support business critical campaigns such as water conservation and blockages
- Work alongside the Communications Manager to build trust in the company brand through effective use of digital communications for PR, campaigns and crisis communications
- Support the Digital Advisor with the use of online and offline channels to influence and create advocacy, building trust and achieving support for plans/initiatives from stakeholders
- Develop material and deliver media activity, acting as company spokesperson as required in print and on broadcast media
- Deal with sensitive media issues off and online, ensuring that plans are prepared, statements are published and monitored and the business is fully briefed on the position
- Manage the relationship with key internal stakeholders and deliver bespoke training to ensure media practice is understood and used correctly, ensuring key partners support the delivery of our media strategy.

**What are the key skills required for the role?**

You will constantly be aware of key media issues relating to the business and wider industry, you will ensure the team are kept informed and are able to organise and plan your workload effectively.

You will also:

- Have excellent skills relating to online channel and content publishing with a strong working knowledge of a range of media monitoring tools
- Possess strong knowledge of the media and digital environment, including social media and how offline channels can be used to drive interest in this
- Be proactive, creative and driven, with an ability to put creative ideas into action, creating content that users want to engage with, utilising this content to build relationships and create advocacy
- Have demonstrable experience of liaising and dealing with journalists and the media, accompanied by excellent interpersonal, influencing and written skills
- Be able to work independently as well as support and contribute to a team.

If successful for the role, you will be required to undergo pre employment checks that will include a Basic Disclosure Check, carried out through a Third Party Company, prior to commencing employment. Depending on the role, you may also be required to go through the security vetting process for either a Counter Terrorist Check or Security Check clearance.
