Working alongside the Mental Health Act Manager and Multidisciplinary Team, you will be responsible for organising and coordinating Mental Health Review Tribunals, Section Renewals and Hospital Manager Appeal meetings for service users, this will see you help to prepare and arrange paperwork to support the meetings, with the support of the Mental Health Act Manager.

The level of responsibility for this post is much higher than might be implied by the title. The role of the MHA Administrator is to provide comprehensive administrative support to the Mental Health Act Manager.

Working without supervision is an important aspect of this post as the position includes covering the duties of the Mental Health Act Manager in their absence.

**Your**
**responsibilities will include**:

- To undertake administrative duties relating to the Mental Health Act 1983 which frequently involves communication of highly complex, sensitive, or contentious nature
- To assist with, and lead, where necessary, the co-ordination of Hospital Managers Hearings in the event of an appeal, ensure that all reports are prepared and despatched in accordance with Policy and communicate to patients the outcome of the hearing
- To assist with, and lead where necessary, the co-ordination of Mental Health Review Tribunal Hearings, in the event of an appeal, to ensure that all hospital statements and reports are prepared and despatched within the statutory time sensitive deadlines and Mental Health Review Tribunal Rules
- To assist with the appropriate scrutiny of statutory documentation to ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act 1983 and current legislation and any errors are amended within the given time limits as set in legislation.
- Assist in the maintenance of monitoring systems for review of all legal and formal documents received within the Unit.
- Undertake a full range of administrative and clerical duties. This work requires a high level of concentration, frequently combined with unpredictable work pattern and often contains distressing information. These tasks require high levels of accuracy with narrow margins for error.
- Deal with correspondence opening, sorting, date stamping and distributing mail.
- Prioritising and dealing with all incoming mail appropriately. Process and store data using paper and computerised systems, complying with data protection and GDPR legislation at all times.
- Implement administrative procedures and changes to working practices for own work area.

**To be successful in this role, you'll need**:

- Knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983, including Mental Health Law, Mental Capacity Act and any subsequent legislation
- Experience within a similar role
- Great communication skills
