Licensing Assistant- Bank

Job Introduction
Northumberland County Council’s Staff Bank provides a pool of highly skilled temporary workers who are looking for a long-term placement, or who want to work flexibly within the council. If a team needs support due to sickness, common staff shortages, or general vacancies, they call upon registered bank members to fill available assignments. These can be filled via a long-term assignment for up to 12 months or on an ad hoc basis.

**The Service**:
You will work within our busy Licensing Team which forms part of the Business Compliance and Public Safety Unit which sits within the Public Protection Service.

The position is based at West Hartford Community Fire Station (West Hartford Business Park, NE23 3JP).

**The Role**:
This role will be undertaking a full range of licensing duties including:

- The maintenance of office systems, processing of licences, permits and registrations to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of licensing functions to the required statutory standard.
- Manufacture of taxi plates and decals ensuring accuracy of information which identifies compliance with taxi legislation.
- Undertake consultation with both internal and external partners and to co-ordinate responses received.
- Provide a front line service to effectively respond to and deal with routine face-to-face, written, telephone, electronic and personal service enquiries from members of the public, professionals and other interested parties, providing service users with information that satisfies their requirements. This to be undertaken in accordance with the service’s established procedures.
- Maintaining appropriate statutory work records to the required service standards, observing data protection, privacy and confidentiality rules.
