Assistant Buyer

**Buyer / Purchasing Assistant required on a FTC for 6 Months **

The SF Commercial Division have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Buyer to join the Procurement department of a large industrial engineering company.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Review and contribute to the delivery of personal, departmental, and business metrics and KPIs.
- Development and continual improvement of strategic relationships through the supplier relationship and performance management framework.
- Development and continual improvement of sustainable procurement practices/framework.
- Ownership and development of various supply chain projects in line with the procurement strategy and business growth plan.
- Lead various procurement activities, consolidating, rationalising, and aligning suppliers and appropriate methodologies for all the supply chain challenges.
- Support the development and implementation of procurement policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the procurement and inventory strategies.
- Proactively manage Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives with suppliers.

- Negotiation, strategic procurement capability, Analytical with strong IT skills, Problem solving, commercially astute.
- IT Literate
- Excellent level of numeracy with attention to detail and accuracy
- Highly organised
- Ability to use conceptual thinking and generate new ideas
- Reporting and analytical skills
- Experienced in a fast-paced commercial environment

**Knowledge**
- Fully conversant with modern procurement and purchasing techniques.
- Direct and Indirect Supplier and Commodity management for a specific number of Commodities/Suppliers.
- Management and coordination of Procurement activities (Cost, Delivery and Quality performance)
- Knowledge of industry trends
- Familiarity with technical drawings and specifications

**Qualifications**
- Cips Level 5 or working towards

This role is to start ASAP and is initially offered on a 6-month fixed term contract

Salary offered £23,000 - £26,000
