Cook - Bank

_**The Sands Care Home**_ are looking for a part-time **Cook/Chef** to work at our home located in Morecambe on a Bank basis.

Hours: as and when required.

**Requirements**:
1 Year Chef Experience (Minimum)

Food Safety Level 2

**The Role**

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring residents receive a varied, appealing, wholesome and nutritious diet, which is suited to the individual assessed and recorded requirements. Food must be of the highest standard and presented in a manner which is attractive in terms of texture, flavour and appearance in order to maintain appetite and nutrition.

This includes all types of diets, including different consistencies i.e. blended. You will prepare the menu in conjunction with resident’s likes and dislikes. You will be responsible for various dietary requirements, including allergens and intolerances. Facilitate the change of menus on a regular basis as laid out in the minimum standards. Ensure all food orders are requested with ample time and complying with health, quality and safety standards.

**Principal Responsibilities**
- To control systems of food allocation to minimise wastage and ensure purchases are controlled within a specified budget. Controlling stocks and purchases.
- To be aware of the care users’ needs and dietary preferences.
- To ensure that all kitchen staff are trained within the requirements of current legislation.
- To maintain the kitchen equipment, as specified by respective manufacturers.
- To ensure that all kitchen staff clean the kitchen after use and, at the end of each shift, leave the kitchen in a clean and hygienic state.
- To be responsible for documentation of cleaning tasks, temperature checks, and safe storage all in accordance with Food Safety Regulations.

If successful, the DBS fee will be deducted from your first wage but returned after 12 months of employment with The Sands Care Home.

If you progress to Interview stage, you will need to attend interview via Zoom.
